Signing in. Your email address and password go to our authentication provider once, to create and verify your account. A stored session then keeps you signed in, including offline. This applies to both products.
The licence check. A workspace identifier and a device identifier are sent, and a short signed statement comes back confirming the licence is valid, which major version it covers, and until when. Nothing about your productions travels either way. Both products. The device identifier is a random value your browser generates on first run — not a hardware fingerprint, and not derived from anything about you.
Your productions. Shot lists, storyboards, schedules, call sheets and budgets are written to your own machine first and sync to your workspace and to the people you share them with.
Invitations. When you invite someone into a workspace or share a production with them, the email address you type is stored with the invitation until it is accepted or withdrawn.
Your crew book. On Pro you may record contact details for people you work with. Those people are not our users and did not give us their data: you are the controller of it and we process it on your instructions. We hold no more than you enter, we never use it to contact anyone, and deleting an entry deletes it — there is no hidden copy and no soft-delete. Reading, exporting and deleting the crew book remain available on every plan, including after a downgrade, so that a request from someone recorded in it can always be honoured.
Your name. A display name, so activity in a shared workspace is attributed to a person rather than shown as “someone edited the budget.”
No card number, billing address, or tax identifier reaches this website or our servers. Payment runs through Paddle’s own checkout, and Paddle is the merchant of record on every sale — the records a tax authority might need are Paddle’s to keep, not ours.
This website sets no cookies and uses no third-party analytics or tracking scripts.
Data is hosted with Supabase, our database and authentication provider, and access to it is enforced by row-level security policies at the database level — a rule the database itself enforces, not a check the application performs and could get wrong. Payment is processed by Paddle, which acts as an independent data controller for the payment details you give it directly.
Data held in PreShot is not end-to-end encrypted. Row-level security means the database refuses to hand your production to anyone outside its workspace; it does not mean the data is mathematically unreadable to us. We do not read your productions, and this policy binds us not to — but that is a commitment, not a guarantee enforced by encryption. If your work cannot be readable by any supplier under any circumstance, this is not the right tool and we would rather say so before you buy. We keep account and production data for as long as your account is active, and for a limited period afterwards in case you reactivate it. Records connected to a payment are kept for as long as Dutch tax law requires us to retain financial administration — currently seven years — even after an account is closed. You can ask us to delete other data at any time; see Section 6.
Under the GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict or object to how we process it, and receive a copy of it in a portable format. Where processing depends on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
To exercise any of these, write to support@preshotapp.com. If you believe we have not handled your data properly, you can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
We may update this policy as the service changes. We will change the date at the top of this page when we do, and for a material change we will make reasonable efforts to notify active customers directly before it takes effect.
